Native Perennial Seedlings

We are so so super excited to expand the farm to support a small, but growing native plant nursery.  The best times to plant perennials are the spring and fall.

All of our native perennials are native to our area (the northeast of the United States) and have been grown organically from seed or cutting here at Daisy Hill Farm in Acton. We source our seeds from The Wild Seed Project, Prairie Moon Nursery, and collected seeds from the farm. Native perennials are an important part of the ecosystem and support native wildlife here in Massachusetts, including all sorts of pollinators like native bees, butterflies, and moths as well as birds and small mammals!

Many of the plants that we have chosen to grow will fit well into cottage gardens, woodland borders, pollinator meadows and veggie gardens.  Most of the flowers that are native to New England are beautiful, but not always as showy as the annuals we plant that originated outside of our ecosystem (think dahlias, zinnias, etc)

Native plants have different growth habits than the other plants we start under grow lights.  In fact, most of them need a long cold period in the soil before germinating in the spring or summer, or even a year after being sown.

Therefore, it is  a bit more challenging to predict when and how many will be ready for pick up in the spring.  Because of this, most of the new native perennials will say "We have run out of stock for this item or it is out of season" for now, so we don't overpromise. If you would like to purchase one of our native varieties that says this, we urge you to click the "Notify Me when Available" button to get a notification emailed to you when we know we have some available for purchase.

Our Native perennials are available in multiple sizes:  4 inch pot, 1 quart pot, 2 quart pot, and 1 gallon pot. Not all plants are available in every size. The size of the pot corresponds to the age and size of the plant.

All Daisy Hill Farm seedlings are grown organically and sustainably from seed or cutting with lots of love right here in Acton, MA.  We use Johnny's 512 organic potting soil mix, clean containers. Neptune's Harvest organic fertilizer. and non-GMO (and organic–whenever possible) seed from high quality seed companies that we trust.
