White Meadowsweet (Spiraea alba)

Native Perennial.  

White Meadowsweet grows into a mound-shaped shrub.  The small white flowers with long stamens are arranged in conical shaped spikes. Leaves are yellow-green in the summer and turn to a more golden-yellow in the fall.  Flowers turn to small brown seed clusters in the winter and persist after the leaves drop.

I have a fond childhood memory of running my little hands over these soft fuzzy flowers where I grew up in New Hampshire. We are looking forward planting these to replace (finally) the invasive Japanese Spirea that were growing on our Acton property when we moved in.
